LHC sets Noreen Niazi jail meeting with daughters, 10am

Justice Abher Gul Khan directed a one-hour jail visit at 10am on Tuesday and summoned Lahore’s deputy commissioner over detention extensions.

The Lahore High Court ordered a meeting between Noreen Niazi and her two daughters in jail at 10am on Tuesday, 3 November.

The visit is to last one hour; counsel must apply to the Lahore deputy commissioner, who is to arrange it.

Justice Abher Gul Khan summoned the Lahore deputy commissioner in person on 4 November over detention extensions for Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan.

Punjab counsel said Noreen Niazi was treated in hospital, returned to jail on doctors’ advice, and met daughter Hajra Niazi on 29 October.

A challenge to Aleema Khan’s detention extension was adjourned until next week.
