The train was travelling from Karachi to Sahiwal when the overnight incident occurred.
The main up track remained unrestored about seven hours after the accident.
A railway spokesperson said relief trains had reached the site and restoration was under way.
Tezgam, Allama Iqbal Express and other trains faced delays while the up track stayed closed.
