Govt proposes 10% of local LPG for Northern Areas supply
A federal plan would send one-tenth of domestic LPG to state marketers for Gilgit-Baltistan and other hard-to-reach regions, with the rest sold in monthly auctions.
The federal government proposes reserving 10% of locally produced LPG for remote and hard-to-reach areas.
Producers would sell that share to state-owned marketers at producer prices, focused on Northern Areas and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The remaining 90% would go to monthly auctions for OGRA-prequalified bottlers, with a floor 5% below PSO’s import-parity price.
Pakistan’s LPG market is about 2.4 million metric tons a year; roughly 71% of supply is imported.
Demand is projected to rise to 4.16 million tons by FY2032-33, with imports covering most of the gap.
