Lucky Cement adds 3.2m tonnes to Karachi plant capacity
Lucky Cement Karachi plant expansion will add 3.2 million tonnes a year, with commercial operations targeted by December 2027 and Pakistan capacity at 18.8 MTPA.
The board on 28 October approved a 3.2 million-tonne-a-year brownfield expansion at the Karachi plant.
Commercial operations are expected by December 2027; Karachi capacity is then expected at 8.55 MTPA.
With the Pezu plant, Lucky Cement’s Pakistan capacity is expected to reach 18.8 MTPA.
Related energy projects include 22.5 MW wind and 10 MW waste-heat recovery at Karachi, plus 15 MW solar and 15 MW battery storage at Pezu.
Renewable energy is expected to cover about 60% of cement-operations power needs, including the new Karachi tonnage.
