Merchant digital wallet planned for Pakistan customs dues
Pakistan Single Window is preparing a merchant digital wallet so importers and exporters can pre-fund one balance and clear customs duties and related trade charges from it.
Pakistan Single Window plans a Unified Payment System that includes a merchant digital wallet for trade-related fees.
A licensed bank or fintech firm would operate the wallet under rules allowed by the State Bank of Pakistan.
Balances could be topped up via IBFT, Raast, bank apps and portals, or counter deposits, with remote withdrawals.
The wallet would sit beside Pre-Deposit accounts and other current channels; existing PD accounts would not move across.
PSW would not hold, move or settle traders’ money; the provider would handle custody, refunds and compliance checks.
