Mobilink Microfinance Bank wins SBP digital retail bank nod
Mobilink Microfinance Bank now holds a Digital Retail Bank licence from the State Bank, letting it offer full digital financial services to retail customers on smartphones.
Mobilink Microfinance Bank (MMBL) has obtained a Digital Retail Bank (DRB) licence from the State Bank of Pakistan.
The SBP digital bank license lets MMBL provide comprehensive digital financial services to retail customers.
The move is framed as widening smartphone access for people who remain outside formal banking.
SBP tightly oversees digital banking for security and compliance, so a DRB licence is a significant regulatory step.
VEON Group, MMBL’s parent, has invested in Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and backs the bank’s expansion.
