Oman labour law mandates one-hour break each workday
Under Oman's new labour law, Royal Decree No. 53/2023 also requires a one-hour rest break, shorter Ramadan hours for Muslim staff, and posted schedules.
Royal Decree No. 53/2023 caps ordinary work at eight hours a day or 40 hours a week.
Staff must get a one-hour break and cannot work more than six hours straight without rest.
Muslim employees may work at most six hours a day or 30 hours a week in Ramadan.
Employers must display working hours and weekly rest days at the workplace.
Firms with 50 or more workers need an internal complaints system; ministry mediation comes before court.
