Pakistan, 17 states slam Colombia Jerusalem embassy
Foreign ministers from Pakistan and 17 other Arab and Islamic countries said Colombia’s embassy inauguration in Jerusalem has no legal effect and undercuts a two-state peace track.
Pakistan and 17 other Arab and Islamic countries issued a joint statement on Friday rejecting Colombia’s embassy inauguration in Jerusalem.
The ministers said the step violates UN Security Council resolutions and weakens efforts toward a two-state solution.
They argued that recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, or changing its occupied status, is null and void and has no legal effect.
The statement cited UN Security Council Resolutions 476 and 478, adopted in 1980.
Signatories included Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Jordan, Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia and several other Arab and Islamic states.
