Sohail Afridi is in preventive custody, police tell Dawn
Police told Dawn that now-suspended KP chief minister Sohail Afridi is among eight people in preventative custody. An earlier version, based only on an ETV Bharat headline, said he was not named.
A senior police official told Dawn that eight people are in preventative custody, including Sohail Afridi, Junaid Akbar and Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati.
Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry told Reuters that Afridi and some cabinet members were taken into preventive custody on Sunday.
The emergency and governor’s rule apply in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They are not a nationwide emergency.
An ETV Bharat headline did not name Afridi. That was the only source in the first version of this article.
