SBP targets $25 billion forex reserves by June 2027
Finance ministry data for July–September 2026 also show stronger exports and remittances, while the central bank aims for $25 billion in reserves by end-June 2027.
SBP-held forex reserves rose 52% year-on-year to a record USD 21.5 billion in July–September 2026, per the Finance Ministry scorecard.
Total liquid reserves reached USD 26.8 billion, giving more than three months of import cover versus 2.2 months a year earlier.
SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad said the bank is targeting USD 25 billion by end-June 2027 and USD 23 billion by December 2026.
A requested USD 10 billion US exchange stabilisation facility is not included in that reserves outlook, the governor said.
The SBP raised the policy rate by 50 basis points to 12% at the same press briefing.
