Pakistan mining sector investment: Reko Diq and Sindh lithium
Pakistan mining sector investment opportunities are being pitched to foreign investors as the Reko Diq project works toward first production in 2028 and a Sindh lithium find is studied.
Pakistan's estimated mineral wealth is $8 trillion, with 52 of 92 identified minerals extracted commercially.
Mining contributes about 3.2 per cent of GDP, and the government wants to raise that share.
Reko Diq's updated study puts the upfront cost at $8.83 billion, with first output projected for late 2028.
OGDC reported lithium in a Sindh geothermal well in July 2026, but commercial viability is not yet known.
The Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum is set for November 12-13 in Islamabad.
