Pakistan Post orders Punjab checks on kite consignments

The Central Punjab postal chief told staff to block kites and metal-coated strings sent by mail, courier or app, and to alert police and the deputy commissioner.

Pakistan Post told Punjab offices on Tuesday to stop kites and prohibited strings moving by post, courier or online delivery before Basant 2027.

The Postmaster General of Central Punjab Circle ordered monitoring of movement, storage, sale and distribution, especially metallic and metal-coated strings.

Suspected items must be reported at once to the nearest police station, and people trying to book them to the deputy commissioner's office.

Transport operators, couriers and online services were asked to flag suspicious consignments, and WhatsApp groups were proposed for coordination.

The direction followed a Punjab government meeting on preparations for Basant 2027.
