Federal Cabinet revises petrol pricing for consumer relief
From 30 October 2026, import costs will track PSO cargoes and refineries will use pre-war March 7 levels for 30 days so savings reach pump prices.
On 30 October 2026 the Federal Cabinet approved a revised Motor Spirit (petrol) pricing mechanism via a Petroleum Division notification.
Import prices will be based on the actual cost of the relevant Pakistan State Oil (PSO) cargo, or the last available cargo’s premiums, incidentals and customs duty if that cost is missing.
For the next 30 days, refineries may set ex-refinery prices using premiums, incidentals and customs duty as they stood on 7 March 2026, before the Iran-US war.
The gap between import and ex-refinery prices goes into the Petroleum Levy account and must cut retail petrol prices by an equal amount.
Major refineries including Pak-Arab, Pakistan, Attock, National, Cnergyico and ENAR must report daily sales to the Petroleum Division and OGRA.
