PIA inducts first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner at Islamabad

The national carrier’s first Dreamliner landed as flight PK-786 from Heathrow under a wet lease with Norway’s Norse Atlantic Airways, one of two 787-9s secured for the fleet.

PIA’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner landed in Islamabad on Sunday as flight PK-786 from London Heathrow.

It is the first Dreamliner in any Pakistani airline’s fleet and one of two 787-9s wet-leased from Norse Atlantic Airways.

The ACMI wet lease covers the aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance from the Norwegian lessor.

Boeing lists the 787-9 with up to 325 seats and a range of about 15,370 km; Norse configures its jets with 338 seats.

Composite construction cuts fuel use by about 25% versus older jets it typically replaces, Boeing says, and keeps cabin pressure lower for passenger comfort.
