Power purchase price seen at Rs25.88-29.26 per unit in 2027
The Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guaranteed sent six scenarios to the regulator, with the upper end driven by a weaker rupee and higher fuel costs. The current rate is Rs25.32 per unit.
CPPA-G projects total power purchase price of Rs3.366 trillion to Rs3.805 trillion for CY2027.
The per-unit range is Rs25.883 to Rs29.255, against the existing Rs25.32 per unit.
The ideal case gives the lowest figure; the two worst cases, which assume a rupee rate of Rs290 to the dollar, give the highest.
