Cost pressure linked to a weaker rupee has added Rs1.896 trillion to Diamer-Bhasha and Dasu estimates, the Ministry of Water Resources told the National Assembly.
The Ministry of Water Resources told the National Assembly the two projects’ estimates rose by a combined Rs1.896 trillion.
Diamer-Bhasha Dam’s cost rose by Rs642 billion, from Rs479 billion to Rs1.121 trillion.
Dasu Hydropower Project’s estimate jumped from Rs486 billion to Rs1.740 trillion, up Rs1.254 trillion or about 260%.
The ministry linked the rise mainly to foreign-exchange rate changes and said a revised PC-I had been submitted.
Cement, high-speed diesel, and steel and iron bars also rose sharply, adding to infrastructure costs.
