PM Shehbaz orders factory monitoring finished this year

Shehbaz Sharif told the FBR on Monday to finish camera monitoring of factory output for sales tax across manufacturing by 31 December.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday told the FBR to finish a sales-tax production monitoring system across manufacturing by the end of the year.

Cameras are fully installed in sugar, cement, tobacco, tiles and fertilizer. Installation continues in textiles, packaged water, packaged juice and packaged milk, where equipment has already been bought.

Procurement is due by 15 October for steel, poultry and tyre, and by 30 October for tea, household electronics, leather, paper and board, and oil and ghee. Full operation is expected by 31 December.

Officials said enforcement had added Rs1.3 trillion to tax collection over the past three years, a 40 percent increase.

Shehbaz Sharif praised textile firms that installed the systems voluntarily after the meeting was told of resistance in that sector.
