South Kashmir: Indian forces arrest 10 youth in raids

APP reported that army and police detained 10 people in separate raids across South Kashmir, and that police recovered charas from two of them.

On October 12, Indian army and police arrested 10 people in separate crackdowns across Islamabad district in South Kashmir, APP reported.

The same day, army and police launched a cordon-and-search in Seer Hamdan, Mattan; APP described the 10 arrests as separate from that operation.

Police said charas was recovered from Mukhtar Ali and Dolal Ali, both from West Bengal, who were arrested in Arwani.

Police said all 10 were in custody and that investigations had begun. APP did not report charges or a court date.

APP argued that drug-peddling allegations against Kashmiri youth are used to justify detention and to suppress the demand for a UN-pledged plebiscite.
