Pakistan leads UNSC consensus on diplomacy during conflicts
The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a Pakistan-initiated presidential statement calling for sustained dialogue and mediation even after armed conflicts have begun.
The 15-member UN Security Council adopted the statement by consensus on Thursday.
The document emphasizes that diplomacy must continue throughout all stages of a conflict.
Pakistan is currently serving a two-year term as a non-permanent member for 2025-26.
The statement builds on Resolution 2788, which was passed during Pakistan’s presidency in July.
