10 US cargo planes reach Israel as Gulf forces brace
Aircraft landed at Ovda and Nevatim in the Negev, with further flights to Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar reported; officials say no strike decision has been taken yet.
Reports say the US transferred 10 military cargo aircraft to Ovda and Nevatim air bases in Israel’s southern Negev.
Further US military planes were reportedly sent to bases in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar after departing Fort Bliss, Texas.
An Israeli official said Israel and the US are coordinating closely, but no decision has been made and both sides are preparing for any choice by President Donald Trump.
A Patriot air-defence system was reportedly moved from Texas to the Gulf; US troops were told to leave some bases, and a carrier plus a Marine unit are expected in November to join about 20 US warships already in the region.
Senator Chris Murphy said senators were briefed on possible attack plans and called them “insane,” warning of a devastating escalation.
