Two examination days at Allama Iqbal Open University will not go ahead as planned in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Spring 2026 semester sittings of 12 and 13 October have been delayed in the affected areas after the university pointed to the prevailing law and order situation. A notification from the Examination Department places the first of those days on 2 November 2026 and the second on 3 November 2026. AIOU exams at Hazara Division centres, and papers in the rest of the country, stay on the timetable already issued.

Where the postponement applies

The delay is not automatically province-wide. The university has said the change applies only to the affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and that Hazara Division and all other parts of Pakistan continue on the previously announced schedule. The Regional Information Office Hazara said the university's Regional Campus Abbottabad has confirmed that every paper under its jurisdiction in the division will proceed as planned. That Hazara account also described the postponed sittings as those at other centres across the province, so candidates outside Hazara still need to confirm that their own centre is covered.

The Examination Department cited the prevailing law and order situation. The Hazara account also referred to security concerns as the reason those other centres were moved. Candidates the university treats as unaffected are to use their existing date sheets. No other examination dates have been changed.

Timeline: what has happened so far

  • 12 October 2026: Papers scheduled for this day in affected parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were postponed, with 2 November 2026 set as the new date.
  • 13 October 2026: Papers scheduled for this day in those areas were postponed to 3 November 2026. Hazara Division centres were exempted and will follow the announced schedule.
  • 2 November 2026: Replacement date for papers in the affected areas that had been set for 12 October.
  • 3 November 2026: Replacement date for papers in the affected areas that had been set for 13 October.

What students should do next

For detail on the revised days, the university has asked students to contact the AIOU regional office nearest to them. Examination information is also on the university's official website, aiou.edu.pk. Checking before travel matters: a candidate whose centre is in Hazara Division, including those under the Abbottabad campus, is still booked on the original dates, while a candidate at an affected centre elsewhere in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not.

AIOU exams that were never set for 12 or 13 October stay where the date sheet put them. The university has not issued a wider change. Students who are unsure whether their centre counts as affected should ask the regional office before they rearrange work, travel, or revision around the November dates.
