KP exams postponed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have cleared two October timetables at once. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC), which recruits for provincial government jobs, has delayed the written examination for Provincial Management Service (PMS) Officer, a Basic Pay Scale 17 (BPS-17) grade. In parallel, all eight Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs), the provincial bodies that conduct matric exams, have suspended the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual-II Examinations 2026. The Nation reported the commission’s move, and TechJuice reported the boards’ decision.
The PMS papers had been fixed for 14 to 31 October. The matric papers were due to begin together on Monday, 12 October, across the province and in the merged tribal districts. No replacement dates have been published in these reports.
PMS written exams
The Nation said an official KPPSC notification put off the PMS Officer (BPS-17) 2026 written examinations that had been set from 14 October to 31 October. The commission said fresh dates would be announced later. Candidates were asked to keep checking the KPPSC website for the revised schedule. The Director of Examinations issued the notification.
The reports describe a delay, not a cancellation. Nothing in them says the recruitment exercise itself has been dropped. For now, the KPPSC PMS postponed papers simply have no new window.
Matric papers held back again
TechJuice reported that every BISE in the province has put off the 2026 SSC Annual-II sitting for a second time, with no end date given, citing the prevailing emergency. The decision covers Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the merged tribal districts. Every board put out its own notice and stopped the papers until further orders. The boards said a revised schedule would follow, and asked students, parents and institutions to rely on their own board.
The SSC Annual-II exams postponed this week were supposed to start on 12 October. That date was already a second attempt. According to TechJuice, the earlier deferral moved the opening four papers, which had been lined up from 7 October, after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march. The replacement opening on 12 October has been called off as well.
ProPakistani reported the step taken by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Swat. Swat’s board has put its 2026 matric papers on hold until further notice for students in Swat, Shangla and the other areas it covers. The word came on Sunday, 11 October, the day before the sitting was meant to open. The board said it would publish replacement dates and a revised date sheet, and asked students to wait for official instructions.
ProPakistani added that papers first listed for 7, 8, 9 and 10 October had already been moved, with a start then expected on 12 October. That plan is now on hold, and the report named no new opening day.
Read together, the reports agree that the 12 October matric start did not go ahead. TechJuice is the source for the claim that all eight boards acted, that the delay is open-ended, and that an emergency was cited, and it alone links the earlier deferral to the PTI long march. ProPakistani limits its report to BISE Swat, gives no cause, and lists 7, 8, 9 and 10 October as the papers already moved.
Closures were uneven
Shutdowns on Monday were not the same in every district, TechJuice reported. Local administrations closed public and private schools, colleges and universities in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Bannu and Karak. In Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai and Kurram, schools stayed open. Kohat University of Science and Technology did not.
What candidates should watch
None of the reports carries a fresh date sheet. For the KP exams postponed this month, families face the same gap: the sitting is off, and the next date is unknown. PMS applicants are being directed to the KPPSC website, and matric students to the board for their area. Until an official notice appears, the October dates already issued no longer apply.
