The KP PMS written exam date 2026 is no longer 14 to 31 October. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) has postponed the written examination for Provincial Management Service (PMS) Officer posts in Basic Pay Scale 17 (BPS-17), according to The Nation. The commission's notification says new dates will be announced later. ProPakistani reported that the written exam has been rescheduled, but its summary does not state the new date.
What the notification says
The Nation said the decision is set out in an official notification issued by the Director of Examinations at the KPPSC. Candidates have been advised to visit the commission's official website regularly for the latest updates and the revised examination schedule. That report never names a replacement day, so it does not publish a KP PMS written exam date 2026.
Where the accounts diverge
ProPakistani's headline reads "New Date Announced for KP PMS Written Exam", and the story says the KPPSC rescheduled the written examination for PMS Officer (BPS-17) posts. The Nation's account is narrower: new dates will be announced later. The ProPakistani summary does not name a day. Any KP PMS exam date other than the postponed 14 to 31 October window should be treated as unconfirmed until the commission posts it.
Matric papers delayed across the province
The PMS postponement is separate from school exams. TechJuice reported that all eight Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have indefinitely postponed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual-II Examinations 2026 for the second time. A BISE is the board that runs matric and intermediate exams in its area. The boards cited the prevailing emergency, and the decision covers the province, including the merged tribal districts.
The SSC papers were scheduled to begin simultaneously on Monday, 12 October. Each board issued a separate notification suspending the papers until further orders. The boards said a revised schedule will be announced later. Students, parents and educational institutions have been asked to follow official announcements from their respective boards.
The exams were first postponed when the first four papers, due to start on 7 October, were deferred because of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, TechJuice reported. The rescheduled start date of 12 October has now also been cancelled.
Closures on Monday varied by district. Local administrations in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshehra, Charsadda, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Bannu and Karak closed public and private schools, colleges and universities. Schools remained open in Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai and Kurram, while Kohat University of Science and Technology stayed closed.
ProPakistani reported that BISE Swat postponed its 2026 matriculation examinations until further notice, affecting students in Swat, Shangla and other areas under its jurisdiction. The announcement was made on Sunday, 11 October, a day before the papers were due to begin. The board will announce replacement dates and issue a revised date sheet later.
Papers originally scheduled for 7, 8, 9 and 10 October had already been postponed, and examinations had been expected to begin on 12 October under the earlier date sheet. That plan has been put on hold. No replacement starting date was included in the latest report. Candidates were advised to follow the board's official updates.
What candidates should do next
PMS candidates should keep checking the KPPSC website, as the notification from the Director of Examinations advises, and should not treat 14 to 31 October as confirmed exam days. SSC candidates should wait for their own board, because a revised timetable has been promised but not issued. None of the reports gives a screening-test date or a centre list for the PMS written papers.
