Six months into the new academic session, Punjab school enrollment has passed the halfway mark in only seven districts, according to a Punjab Education Department report. A report published by TechJuice says the other 33 districts are still short of 50 percent of the targets set for them. The Punjab school enrollment data shows the shortfall in major urban centres as well as elsewhere in the province.
Districts above and below the mark
Sahiwal leads the seven districts that have passed the halfway point, and Nankana Sahib is second, according to TechJuice. The summary names only those two among the seven that crossed the mark.
Rajanpur is furthest from its target, at 19 percent. Kot Addu follows at 20 percent and Muzaffargarh at 21 percent. Faisalabad and Bahawalpur are each at 23 percent, Khushab at 24 percent and Sargodha at 25 percent. Kasur and Mandi Bahauddin are at 26 percent each, Sialkot at 27 percent, Chakwal and Sheikhupura at 28 percent each, and Layyah at 29 percent.
Among the districts given a figure under 30 percent, Layyah is highest at 29 percent, and it is still well short of halfway. The seven districts above 50 percent are the exception in this release. The districts named below that line range from 19 to 30 percent, so a large share of each listed target is still unmet six months into the session.
The provincial capital's 30 percent
Government schools in the provincial capital have enrolled 603,134 children against a target of two million. That works out to 30 percent and puts the capital 24th among Punjab districts in meeting the target, the report says. The figures show that Punjab school enrollment is short of the assigned target in the capital as well as in districts with the lowest shares.
TechJuice reports that enrollment is below expectations across the province, including in major urban centres. The gap is recorded while the provincial government continues efforts to bring more children into the public education system. The story does not quote any minister or district officer on the shortfall.
What parents cannot take from these figures
The account does not name a registration portal, a fee, or the steps for completing a form. It gives no calendar year for the session, only that six months have passed. Anyone searching for Punjab school registration online will not find a how-to in this report, which measures districts against the targets they were given.
Families still need a local government school or the education department to confirm a place, a form and any payment. Those details are not part of what TechJuice published from the department report.
