Sherpao: PTI put jailed leader ahead of KP’s people

Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Saturday that the PTI KP government lost power because of a non-serious attitude and a focus on freeing its jailed leader instead of serving citizens and defending the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking in Peshawar at Watan Kor, the party’s head office, on QWP’s 14th foundation day, Sherpao argued that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and their social media pressure groups were responsible for the breakdown of talks with the federal government. He said provincial problems were pushed aside while political energy went elsewhere.

Why Sherpao says the government collapsed

Sherpao said PTI spent the province’s time and resources on long marches and protests that he called useless. In his words, the party “wasted precious time and resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by staging useless long marches and protests.” He tied that record to what he described as neglect of everyday governance in the province.

He alleged that PTI leaders were involved in corruption, had plundered provincial resources, and had misused funds meant for development projects. Those claims were presented as his own allegations; he offered no further detail in the remarks summarised here.

Security and schools under scrutiny

Terrorism, he said, remains the most urgent challenge in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, yet he accused PTI leaders of showing little interest in corrective steps. He added that law and order had worsened so badly that residents of the southern belt and the merged tribal districts often could not leave their homes after sunset.

Sherpao also pointed to education, saying around five million children were out of school in the province and linking that figure to what he called poor governance during PTI’s rule.

Emergency, governor’s rule, and a federal test

Although QWP opposed the imposition of an emergency and governor’s rule in the province, Sherpao said those steps were taken as a last resort because of the PTI KP government’s non-serious attitude. He framed the present moment as a test for the federal government, which he said must tackle the province’s problems and show performance within three months.

He urged the prime minister and federal ministers to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and provide the resources needed to address its crises. Terrorism, he maintained, cannot be defeated without effective coordination between the federal and provincial governments, and peace must come before development can take hold.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Aftab Sherpao ne kaha hai ke PTI ne Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ki hukumat is liye kho di ke wo logon ke masail par serious nahi thi. Unke mutabiq party zyada waqt jail mein band leader ki rihaai aur proteston mein lagati rahi. Wo kehte hain ke dehshatgardi aur school se bahar bachchon jese masail pe dhyan kam diya gaya. Ab unka kehna hai ke federal hukumat ko teen mahine mein province ke liye asar dikhana chahiye.
