A widow and her two young daughters are still missing in Bahawalnagar. The three left a house in Madni Colony at about 4pm on 7 October and, six days later, had not been traced. Police have registered a case, and the family says there is still no sign of them.

The woman is identified in the complaint only as S, aged 28. She had been living with her father in Madni Colony for four years after her husband’s death, with daughters F, six, and U, four.

How they went missing

On 7 October she set out with the girls for a nearby academy, the same errand she made each day. When the three did not come home, the family phoned the academy and were told she had not taken the children there that day. Her father told reporters the girls and their mother were still gone, and that the search had not moved forward.

The household fears they may have been taken away for sexual assault. That remains an allegation by the family. Police have not named a suspect or said where the three are.

What police say

The complaint is a first information report, the document that starts a criminal case, filed with B-Division police. A spokesperson for the district police officer, who commands police in the district, said officers were working to bring the woman and her daughters back safely and to detain whoever was responsible. No arrest was announced in those comments.

The three are still missing. The father says the inquiry has not advanced. The spokesperson says the effort to find them, and to arrest those responsible, is continuing.

A second complaint in the district

Relatives of a 14-year-old boy from Mauza Dilla Akoka accuse Shehar Farid police of holding back an arrest. They told reporters the boy, described by them as mentally challenged, left home around 11am on 9 October. After he stayed away a long time, they searched and saw him coming out of a maize field.

They said he told them a local man, recorded as N, had called him to the fields to carry fodder and had then sexually assaulted him. An FIR was on file, they said, yet four days after the incident the man had not been caught, and they blamed police reluctance. Police said raids to arrest him were in progress. This complaint is separate from the widow’s, and these missing persons cases have not been described as closed.
