The latest official figures on dengue cases in Rawalpindi show 58 confirmed cases in the district in 2026, after 5,780 patients were screened at medical facilities. The District Health Authority Rawalpindi issued the updated summary on Monday, October 19. Of the confirmed cases, 25 were recorded in October alone, spread across several union councils, which are local administrative areas within the district. The authority said no fatalities have been recorded to date.
Screening and confirmed cases
The summary covers patient screening carried out across district medical facilities in 2026 as part of dengue vector control, the work of stopping the mosquitoes that carry the virus from breeding. Of the 5,780 people screened, 5,319 were categorised as suspected cases and one as probable, while 402 tested negative. The remaining confirmed cases are the 58 counted in the update.
Five patients are currently admitted to hospital, two of them confirmed cases. The authority recorded zero fatalities to date, and the update did not report any change in that figure.
Vector control and enforcement
Vector surveillance continues across the district through 1,400 deployment teams, made up of 415 outdoor units and 985 indoor units. Inspectors have checked 5,629,984 residential units and 1,943,802 commercial locations, and detected larval breeding at 231,516 sites. Larvae are the young stage of mosquitoes, which develop in standing water.
All 17,859 registered hotspot sites maintained 100 percent weekly coverage, the update said. According to the same summary, administrative teams registered 2,798 FIRs (police cases), sealed 686 non-compliant premises, issued 2,331 challans (fine notices) and collected PKR 3,156,000 in fines. Taken together, these figures show how dengue cases in Rawalpindi are being tracked alongside enforcement against breeding sites.
