The district administration has announced that DIK Section 144 extended across Dera Ismail Khan from October 13 until November 11 to maintain peace and security. Deputy Commissioner Hikatullah issued the formal notification after assessing the prevailing law and order situation in the district.
Under the directive, authorities have prohibited pillion riding, rallies, and all forms of public gatherings across the city. The administration clarified that any activity that risks disrupting traffic, disturbing public peace, or hindering the everyday movement of citizens will not be tolerated.
Prohibited Activities and Penalties
The official order places strict legal restrictions on the carrying or display of weapons in public spaces. Furthermore, individuals and groups are barred from pitching tents or erecting temporary structures along public highways and major thoroughfares.
The deputy commissioner's office noted that law enforcement personnel will take strict legal action against anyone found disregarding the directives. Non-compliance will result in immediate registration of cases under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which penalises disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant.
Security Tightened in Bara Bazar
Alongside the measures in Dera Ismail Khan, administrative measures were also enacted in other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The administration in Tehsil Bara of Khyber district sealed off all entry and exit routes connected to the Main Bara Bazar.
Police forces took control of Bara Bazar to manage internal movement, with additional contingents expected to reinforce the area. Local officials emphasised that maintaining public order remains the top priority and disruptions will be met with immediate administrative intervention.
