The Federal Investigation Agency has recovered Rs2.1 million from Nauman, the main suspect in the Laiba Ijaz case. Laiba died by suicide after being defrauded over a promised admission to Harvard University in the United States. FIA sources said investigators are obtaining Nauman’s records from the relevant departments. Those sources said he will be handed to Mansehra police after the recovery process is complete.

What was taken, and what has come back

The FIA is Pakistan’s federal agency for specified crimes, including fraud. Sources there said the Rs2.1 million was recovered from Nauman. The FIR, short for first information report, is the formal complaint that opens a criminal case.

It says the suspects took Rs9.3 million from Laiba in exchange for a United States visa and a scholarship. They also gave her fake scholarship documents, university offer letters and fee receipts. The two figures answer different questions: Rs9.3 million is what the complaint says was paid, and Rs2.1 million is what the agency says it has recovered from the main suspect.

Who the FIA sources name

Nauman, Fatima Sarwar and Aiza defrauded Laiba, FIA sources said, by providing fake admission documents and promising admission and a scholarship at Harvard University. The sources call Nauman the main suspect. Fatima Sarwar and Aiza are named alongside him. In that account, the Rs2.1 million recovery is from Nauman, while the FIR’s Rs9.3 million is the sum the suspects are accused of taking for the visa and the scholarship.

Checks on his record, and the next handover

Investigators are still obtaining Nauman’s records from the relevant departments, FIA sources said. The Islamabad Excise Department has no record of him. Police records show that he is a proclaimed offender in a fraud case in Mansehra. A proclaimed offender is a person a court has declared to be evading a case after they failed to appear.

Authorities will hand Nauman over to Mansehra police after the recovery process is complete, the sources said. Police already list him in that Mansehra fraud case, and the FIA sources say the recovery is to be finished before the handover.

Aasan alfaaz mein

FIA ne Laiba Ijaz case ke main mulzim Nauman se 21 lakh rupay recover kar liye hain. Nauman, Fatima Sarwar aur Aiza par ilzam hai ke unhon ne Harvard ki fake admission aur scholarship ka wada karke dhoka diya, aur Laiba ne is ke baad khudkushi kar li. FIR ke mutabiq suspects ne visa aur scholarship ke badle 93 lakh rupay liye thay, jin mein se 21 lakh is recovery mein wapas aaye hain. Nauman Mansehra ke ek fraud case ka proclaimed offender hai, aur recovery poori hone par usay Mansehra police ke hawale kiya jayega.
