Sindh Rangers and District West Police have arrested five suspects in a joint operation targeting human trafficking in Karachi’s Surjani Town, according to a Rangers spokesperson. The men are accused of inter-provincial movement of undocumented Afghan nationals from Hub into the city and of arranging short-term lodging in Hub before the final transfer.

Who was arrested and what was seized

The spokesperson identified the detained men as Abdul Aziz, Muhammad Bakhsh, Ali Hassan, Nadeem and Jamil. Officials said arms, ammunition, drugs and loader vehicles were recovered from them. Investigators also linked the group to small vehicles and motorcycles used to move people along quieter paths.

Initial inquiries, the spokesperson added, suggest the network had already brought around 230 undocumented Afghan nationals into Karachi. That figure remains part of the early account of the case and will be tested as questioning continues.

How the alleged route worked

According to the same briefing, the suspects moved people from Hub toward Karachi and kept them temporarily in Hub before sending them onward. To reduce the chance of interception, they allegedly favoured unpaved stretches through Manghopir, Band Murad and Surjani Town rather than busier main roads.

Families were allegedly charged Rs200,000 each for transport into Karachi. That fee, if proven in court, points to a paid facilitation network rather than a one-off lift across district lines. The case sits within wider concern over human trafficking in Karachi and the use of peripheral neighbourhoods as transit points.

What happens next

The spokesperson said raids were continuing in an effort to detain other alleged members of the same network. Further recoveries, remands and formal charges will depend on how District West Police and Rangers develop the evidence already seized.

Residents of Surjani Town and adjoining western corridors may see more checkpoints and follow-up searches while those operations run. Anyone with information is expected to use official Rangers or police channels rather than informal intermediaries.

Hathiyar, drugs aur gaariyan bhi baramad huee hain. Ab aur logon ki talaash jari hai, is liye ilaqe mein security zyada ho sakti hai.

FAQ

Pakistan treats human trafficking and related smuggling as criminal offences under federal law. Courts decide charges and sentences on the facts of each case; this Surjani operation will follow that process after investigation.
