The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday gave PTI more time to file a written response in the Imran Khan X account case, a petition seeking a ban on the official X account of party founder Imran Khan. The court adjourned the hearing until Nov 23, so the petition has not yet been decided. PTI's interim chairman, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, appeared in person before Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, who heard the petition.

What the court and PTI said

The petition was filed by Ghulam Murtaza. X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, is where the account is hosted. The court observed that Barrister Gohar could have submitted his response in writing.

Barrister Gohar told the court that PTI does not claim ownership of the X account in question. He said, however, that a change in circumstances meant the party needed more time to prepare a detailed response, and the court granted that request. The sources do not say what the change was.

Separate case in the magistrate's court

Meanwhile, in a separate matter, Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi issued arrest warrants for accused people who failed to appear in cases registered against Imran Khan and others over a 2014 sit-in. Khan could not be produced in court because he is currently held in Adiala jail. The magistrate adjourned those proceedings until Nov 25 and directed that evidence be presented at the next hearing. This matter is separate from the petition before the High Court.
