Lahore police arrested four alleged drug peddlers on Sunday and seized crystal methamphetamine, called ice, and hashish, The Nation reported. The paper’s headline mentioned two suspects. The same story also gave details of a second pair held by other city stations.
At Bhati Gate, officers recovered 1,040 grams of ice. Elsewhere in the city, further raids produced 1.320 kilogrammes of hashish and 630 grams of ice.
Tip-off at Bhati Gate
A police spokesperson identified the Bhati Gate suspects as Khawar and Ali Raza. The operation was opened on a tip-off. Officers who were out on patrol used confidential information, took the two men into custody and said 1,040 grams of ice were recovered from them.
According to police, the pair had been selling drugs in several parts of the city. The Walled City, Lahore’s old inner district, was among the places named. The spokesperson said legal proceedings against the two had begun.
Second haul the same day
The SP (superintendent of police) Civil Lines identified the other suspects as Abdul Majeed and Waseem. Mughalpura and Race Course police arrested them on Sunday during intelligence-based raids at different sites, aimed at drug dealers.
Lahore police said these suspects sold narcotics while travelling through different areas and the localities beside them. Officers put the recovery at 1.320 kilogrammes of hashish, a cannabis resin, and 630 grams of ice, the street name for crystal methamphetamine. Cases have been registered against both men, and the legal process was still moving forward.
What police said happens next
The SP Civil Lines said operations based on intelligence would continue against drug peddlers. People involved in the illicit trade, the officer said, would face legal action. The Nation did not report a court date, or any statement from the four suspects.
