Commissioner Mirpurkhas Division Shahmir Khan Bhutto on Tuesday placed the division under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The order runs for 15 days, from 12 October through 26 October 2026.
According to the divisional administration, Section 144 imposed in Mirpurkhas aims to preserve public order and prevent untoward security incidents throughout the district and surrounding jurisdictions.
Prohibited Gatherings and Public Movement
Under the newly imposed regulations, the gathering of more than five individuals in public spaces without prior administrative clearance is prohibited. The restriction explicitly covers protest demonstrations, sit-ins, public rallies, and processions.
The administrative notification also outlaws actions that disrupt the normal flow of vehicular traffic. Residents and political groups cannot block roadways or impede emergency services, including ambulances and law enforcement convoys operating across the division.
Weapons Ban and Enforcement Directives
The directives further target potential security hazards by prohibiting the public display and carrying of firearms, ammunition, sticks, and any blunt or sharp objects that could cause harm.
Local law enforcement personnel across Mirpurkhas division have received instructions to ensure compliance with the order throughout its 15-day duration. Those violating the ban risk detention and prosecution under relevant legal codes.
