Investigators in Lahore have detained ten people across four cybercrime cases, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) said at a press conference on Monday. The cases cover online child exploitation and blackmail, fake Canadian identity documents, payment card fraud and illegal online betting. Additional Director Atif Ameer of the NCCIA Lahore Zone gave the details.
Child exploitation and blackmail case
One suspect was arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting and blackmailing minors who live abroad. According to Atif, the man used a fake identity on social media to contact underage children, win their trust and pressure them into producing objectionable material. He then allegedly threatened to circulate that material online. A laptop and a mobile phone were seized for forensic examination, which means digital evidence is extracted and analysed in a laboratory.
Fake Canadian documents and card fraud
In a second operation, three law students were arrested for allegedly using AI to create fake Canadian identity documents and passport photographs. Four mobile phones, four laptops and printed copies of fake Canadian passports were recovered. Preliminary investigations suggested the documents were being used to open bank accounts in Canada and to carry out online financial fraud, Atif said.
In a separate case in LDA City, Lahore, two suspects, Wajid Ali Jafri and Aman Ali, were arrested for payment card fraud. Officers seized five point-of-sale (POS) machines, the devices used to take card payments, and four mobile phones. A first information report (FIR) No. 243/2026 has been registered, and efforts are under way to arrest a third suspect, Najaf, who is allegedly linked to supplying the machines.
Illegal betting network
Four suspects were arrested in a raid in Bahria Town, Lahore, over alleged links to an illegal online betting network. One computer, one laptop and six mobile phones were seized. The alleged network owner, Zaeem, is still at large, and investigators are analysing data from the seized devices. FIR No. 250/2026 was registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016, the main cyber law, and the Pakistan Penal Code.
Wider NCCIA performance
A separate one-month performance report released by the agency's spokesperson said the NCCIA arrested 1,129 suspects and recovered Rs105.3 million for victims during the first month under Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The agency received 5,176 complaints from citizens in that period, and 4,491 were registered as inquiries. The report said 272 cases were registered after those inquiries were completed. DG Rizvi said the agency would continue its zero-tolerance policy against cybercrime.
Investigations in the Lahore cases are continuing, and efforts to arrest the remaining suspects are under way.
