Pakistan will host the Omani foreign minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, on an official visit on 13 and 14 October 2026. Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said the Omani foreign minister is travelling at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. In Islamabad, Albusaidi will attend the eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission, the standing meeting the two governments use to look at their cooperation.
The Foreign Office said the visit shows the long and close ties between Pakistan and Oman and is expected to widen cooperation that benefits both sides. The Foreign Office statement sets the official visit for 13 and 14 October.
The Islamabad commission session
Dar and Albusaidi will chair the session together. The Foreign Office, the ministry that conducts Pakistan's diplomacy, described the meeting as a place to go through the full Pakistan-Oman relationship and to build cooperation in many fields. A day earlier, it said the commission would take up trade, investment, industry, agriculture, finance, oil and gas, labour, consular affairs, security, defence, climate change, civil aviation, education, media and culture.
The list runs from commercial ties to security and services people use. Labour is the item under which the two sides can discuss people who work in the other country. Oil and gas, finance and investment sit beside agriculture and industry. Consular affairs, in plain terms, cover official help for citizens, such as documents and assistance abroad, while civil aviation covers air links.
Education, media and culture appear alongside defence and climate change. The Foreign Office has not said which items will produce a decision, and it has not announced a new agreement or any investment figure before the ministers sit down.
Courtesy call on the prime minister
A meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected, the Foreign Office said, in the form of a courtesy call by the Omani foreign minister. The statement said the two countries share "close, brotherly relations rooted in shared history, faith and culture." It gave no time for the call and named no other meetings besides the commission and the expected call on the prime minister.
The spokesperson's notice was issued in Islamabad on 12 October. What the session agrees, if anything, will be known only after the talks. The Foreign Office has not previewed a joint statement.
