Islamabad residents who need an online driving licence Islamabad can now complete the process from home: register on the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) portal, apply for a learner permit, renew an existing licence, or request a duplicate if a card is lost or damaged—without going to Traffic Headquarters or a facilitation centre.
An ITP official said on Sunday, 18 October, that the facility was introduced on the directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Captain (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, to offer modern, convenient and time-saving services. Applications are submitted at the official portal, dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk.
How to apply for learner, renewal or duplicate licences
Applicants create an account on the ITP portal and file the relevant request online. The same channel covers learner driving permits, Islamabad Traffic Police license renewal online, and duplicates for loss or damage. Officials say the full application stage is meant to stay digital, so routine trips to police offices for filing should no longer be required.
Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan said renewed and duplicate cards would be sent to the residential address on the form through TCS courier. She urged citizens to enter complete names, correct home addresses and active mobile numbers, warning that wrong or incomplete details can delay delivery.
What changes from 19 October
From Monday, 19 October, learner, renewal and duplicate applications will no longer be handled at Traffic Headquarters Faizabad or other Islamabad Police Khidmat Centres. Those counters shift to the online platform. The CTO described the move as a step to improve public facilitation and make licence services more accessible, and said ITP is using technology to cut office visits for routine licensing work.
People who still need to collect a renewed or duplicate licence in person for older cases should confirm their own application status through the official channel; the new arrangement is designed so fresh renewals and duplicates reach home by courier instead of requiring repeat office visits.
