The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a 15-day extension for the submission of bids for the CDA Capital House project in Islamabad. This move pushes the deadline to October 27, providing interested companies with additional time to finalize their technical proposals and architectural designs for the Rs 3.2 billion development.
Located in the Diplomatic Enclave, the Capital House is designed to serve as a centralized accommodation facility. It is intended to function similarly to the existing provincial houses of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, offering dedicated services and lodging under a single roof. This project aims to replace the current fragmented arrangements for official guests and dignitaries in the capital.
Extension and Bidding Process
This latest delay marks the second revision to the project's timeline. Initially, the CDA had set the deadline for the first week of October, which was later moved to October 12. According to CDA Director General Infrastructure Haider Ali, the further extension to October 27 was granted specifically because prospective bidders required more time to complete the complex technical work and design requirements.
As the project is being executed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model, the responsibility for the final design lies with the contractor. This means that while the initial PC-I (Project Concept-I) outlines the basic requirements, the specific number of rooms and the exact range of facilities will only be finalized during the procurement and development phase.
Project Specifications and Timeline
Preliminary plans for the CDA Capital House project include the construction of approximately 100 rooms across various categories. The authority intends for the building to offer amenities comparable to a four-star hotel. Once the contract is awarded following the evaluation of financial and technical bids, the project is expected to be completed within a two-year timeframe.
