Opposition leaders say they will resist KP governor rule, and the Jang reports do not include an official order imposing it. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Barrister Gohar said in Islamabad that the party would raise its voice on every forum, while the opposition alliance has called a leadership meeting before an all-parties conference on 14 October.
Speaking to reporters, Gohar said PTI's parliamentary party, the meeting of its lawmakers, would be held the following day, Jang reported. He described terrorism as a cancer for Pakistan and said people should not be divided against it. He accused the government of stubbornness, said the government machinery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been changed suddenly, and said Pakistan's destiny was democracy. The federation, he said, "will be strong when the provinces are strong."
In plain words, KP governor rule is when the federation administers a province through the governor. Gohar's remarks treat that step as a dispute already in public view. The Jang account of those remarks does not mention any official notification or a petition filed by PTI.
What Achakzai said about democracy
National Assembly opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, speaking to the media in Islamabad with other opposition leaders, said he was ready for every kind of negotiation for democracy in the country, according to Jang. He said the constitution had guaranteed a democratic system and that parliament is the source of power.
Senate opposition leader Raja Nasir Abbas, quoted in the same report, said the consensus constitution was being made controversial. He said law and order in Balochistan was in a worse condition, and that imposing an emergency there would make the situation worse. He is not quoted as naming a date or a legal draft.
Opposition alliance meetings and the 14 October APC
Opposition alliance spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai said Achakzai had called for the courts to be approached against governor rule and an emergency, Jang reported. The report presents that as Achakzai's advice. It does not say a petition has been submitted.
Yousafzai said the alliance had summoned a leadership meeting before the all-parties conference on 14 October. An all-parties conference, or APC, is a joint sitting of political parties. He also said the opposition's joint parliamentary party would meet the next day and that Maulana Fazlur Rehman would be invited.
Those plans sit beside Gohar's announcement of a PTI parliamentary party meeting the day after his own remarks. The reports describe meetings and a court route as the opposition's next moves. They do not record a government reply to Achakzai's offer of talks.
Jibran Nasir's letter on the Mir Raza case
In a separate report, Jang said Jibran Nasir, lawyer for the family of Mir Raza, had written to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. Nasir asked for a joint investigation team, or JIT, a panel that brings investigators onto one case. The report does not carry the letter's text or any answer from the chief minister.
