The Lahore Basant 2027 date has been revised in a fresh notification from the Lahore deputy commissioner’s office, which now proposes the spring kite festival for March 12-14. Under that notice, kite flying would be permitted across the city over the three days. The schedule is not final: it still needs approval from the Punjab Cabinet.
What the DC office has proposed
The deputy commissioner has also sent a summary to the Punjab government setting out the same March 12-14 window. That proposal would allow kite flying within Lahore district, except in prohibited areas, and only with permitted materials. Officials at the deputy commissioner’s office said manufacturing of kites and kite strings would be allowed until March 14, 2027. Purchase, transportation, and storage would be permitted from February 1, 2027, with sales to the public starting on February 10.
Cabinet approval still pending
Both the notification and the summary treat the Lahore Basant 2027 date as a proposal, not a locked calendar. The Punjab Cabinet will take the final decision. The notice is described as another revision to earlier suggested dates for the annual festival, so further changes remain possible until ministers confirm the plan.
What residents should watch for
No separate public registration portal is described in the current proposal. Practical details that matter for households and traders—where flying is banned, which materials count as permitted, and how sales will be checked—will depend on the Cabinet’s decision and any follow-up orders. Until then, March 12-14 should be read as the working Lahore Basant 2027 date under review, not as a guaranteed holiday timetable.
