The authority that issues Pakistan's national identity cards has set out a from-home route for changing the photograph and the permanent address on a card. In a statement from Islamabad on 11 October 2026, reported by ARY News, NADRA said the application is made on the Pak-ID mobile app.
NADRA is the National Database and Registration Authority. The card it issues is the Computerised National Identity Card, or CNIC. According to the statement, the applicant signs in to Pak-ID and opens the identity-card section on the home screen. That is where a request to change the picture and the permanent address is filed.
How the Pak-ID application works
The statement offers two starting points. Someone applying for their own card selects the option for themselves. For a blood relative's application, the user selects the blood-relative option. After that choice, the applicant selects renewal of the card, amends the particulars that need to change, finishes the remaining steps and submits the request.
ARY News presented these steps as the authority's procedure for applying while at home. The account does not state a fee, how long the authority takes, or whether some applicants must still visit an office. Those details are not in the statement as published.
Digital family cards and other checks
The same report lists functions of the newer Pak-ID version. People can obtain a digital identity card for a spouse and for eligible children, keep those cards together with their own digital card, and share them when required. The statement does not define which children count as eligible.
A B-form, the document that registers a child, or a certificate cancelling an identity card, can be checked inside the app. The user chooses the option to scan a QR code, scans the digital code and views the information shown as verified.
The newer version can also complete biometric verification for the influenza and meningitis vaccines for Hajj or Umrah. Hajj is the main pilgrimage; Umrah is the pilgrimage that may be performed at other times of the year. The report says this vaccine check can be done through the app.
What applicants still cannot tell from this notice
ARY News refers readers to a separate NADRA notice on the validity period of identity documents and on delivery. That notice's schedule is not reproduced in the photo-and-address story, so no delivery date can be stated here.
Households that only need the photograph or the permanent address updated have a described path: the Pak-ID home screen, their own card or a blood relative's, renewal, an edit, and submission from home. The statement treats that request as a renewal in which the required particulars are amended before it is submitted.
