The Omani foreign minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, for an official visit that runs through 14 October. He will lead the Omani delegation at the eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission, the ministers' meeting at which the two governments review cooperation. He is also due to hold a bilateral meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
The Foreign Office said the trip is meant to strengthen cooperation across several sectors. The Foreign Office statement on the arrival did not list any agreements.
Received at the airport
The Omani foreign minister was met at the airport by the secretary of the Economic Affairs Division and the additional secretary for the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Foreign Office said so in a news release and did not give either official's name. It also shared images of the arrival at Islamabad airport on 13 October.
The two hosts are the officials the ministry named for the welcome. The release does not identify other members of the Omani party. It also does not set out any engagement beyond the commission and the meeting with Dar. For now, the public record of the landing is the reception, the dates, and those two meetings.
Eighth session of the joint commission
The Joint Ministerial Commission, shortened to JMC, is a sitting of ministers from both countries. It is where they look at cooperation sector by sector. This session is the eighth, and Albusaidi will lead the delegation from Oman.
The Foreign Office has kept the purpose broad. It says Pakistan and Oman will review cooperation across multiple sectors. It has not named the sectors, and it has not announced a signing for 13 or 14 October.
Any later effect on trade, travel, or jobs would have to come from the talks the Omani foreign minister is here to hold. Nothing of that sort was confirmed when he landed.
Talks with Ishaq Dar
The same visit includes a bilateral meeting with Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. He holds the offices of deputy prime minister and foreign minister, so the talk brings Albusaidi together with the minister responsible for Pakistan's foreign relations. The Foreign Office has listed that meeting separately from Albusaidi's role as head of the Omani delegation at the commission.
The stated dates are 13 and 14 October. A meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz has been described as expected. The Foreign Office description of the arrival does not include that meeting, and it remains unconfirmed.
