The Sindh High Court has directed private schools to collect June and July fees separately. The SHC private school fees order tells schools to issue fee notices in May. It also bars schools from collecting the June and July fees through vouchers sent out at the same time.

Separate deadlines for June and July

The court fixed June 30 as the last date for June fees and July 30 as the last date for July fees. Schools may not demand both payments together. These private school fee collection rules were issued during a hearing on a petition that challenged summer vacation fee collection and the compulsory purchase of books and uniforms.

A government lawyer and a representative of the Directorate of Private Schools appeared before the bench. That directorate is the provincial office for private schools. The court directed the directorate and the other respondents to act according to its order.

What the petitioner's lawyer told the court

The petitioner's lawyer said schools had already begun sending fee notices in April and asking parents to pay both months at once. He argued that this method had no justification while classes were suspended for the summer vacation. Accounts of his submissions differ on the remedy he sought: one says he challenged the combined collection, while another says he told the court that fees cannot be charged for the vacation because no academic activity takes place.

On compulsory books and uniforms, the court ordered the Directorate of Private Schools and the other parties to consult one another, hold a meeting within two weeks, and try to settle the dispute. With those directions on record, the petition was disposed of.

Quetta's notification on vacation fees

The Quetta district administration has announced that private schools which collect fees for vacation periods will have their registrations cancelled and their premises sealed. Deputy Commissioner West Munir Ahmed Durrani issued a formal notification banning the practice after a Balochistan High Court ruling. The ban takes effect from the date of the notification, and schools have been told to carry out that court's decision.

Officials said any private school found charging fees during vacations will face strict action. The warning also covers fees taken for the winter break. The deputy commissioner asked parents to report such complaints promptly to his office or to the relevant officials of the Education Department. Under the SHC private school fees order, the Sindh schedule is a notice in May, the June fee by June 30, and the July fee by July 30.
