The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), which regulates phone and internet services in Pakistan, said on Friday that it had intensified nationwide monitoring to raise the quality of telecom services, strengthen network performance and respond to consumer concerns.
What the PTA did
In a statement, the authority said monitoring and service-improvement steps were carried out through its 10 zonal offices from 8 to 14 October 2026. PTA teams, working with relevant stakeholders, visited areas in Thatta, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mandi Bahauddin, Quetta, Faisalabad and Gilgit-Baltistan to assess telecom services and look into problems reported by users.
During those checks, officials identified issues affecting consumers. Telecom operators were directed to resolve problems linked to mobile network coverage, the quality of voice calls and internet services within the deadlines the PTA set.
Faisalabad site and next steps
The PTA also said an issue involving the closure of a telecom site in Faisalabad had been successfully resolved. It did not give further public detail on when the site had closed or how long the disruption lasted.
The authority said it would continue to work closely with telecom operators, relevant organisations and local administrations so that consumers across the country receive more reliable and higher-quality telecom services. No separate timeline was announced beyond the deadlines already given to operators for the faults found during the October checks.
