Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has condemned the Riyadh airport attack, after reports that Umrah pilgrims were waiting to board flights when the assault took place. A post from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said she strongly condemned the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Dawn described Saturday's violence as the deadliest on Saudi soil in more than a decade.
What the reports say
In its account of the Riyadh airport attack, Dawn's Instagram post said pilgrims on Umrah were waiting to board flights. The post credited footage of the scene to Anadolu Agency. It gave no tally of people killed or hurt.
Dawn also set the assault in the war in Yemen. The outlet said Riyadh has long supported, by military means, the internationally recognised government there against the Houthis.
Maryam Nawaz's condemnation
The PML-N account on X carried news of her strong condemnation of the attack on King Khalid International Airport. The message did not give an extended quotation from the chief minister, and it listed no step by the Punjab government.
That statement is the Pakistani political reaction contained in these reports. It records the province's chief minister speaking about an airport where pilgrims were waiting to fly.
What is still unclear
Dawn called Saturday's attack the deadliest on Saudi soil in more than a decade, but neither that post nor the party message gave a toll for the Riyadh airport attack. They also did not say whether flights were delayed or cancelled.
The reports do not name the attackers or the means they used. Dawn ties the violence to the Yemen war, without stating in this post that any group had claimed responsibility.
