Facebook users can now customize Facebook feed results by typing a normal sentence about what they want to see. Meta, the company that runs Facebook, announced the tool, called Your Algorithm, on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, after it was already on Instagram. In the main Feed and in Reels, someone can write "show me more cooking videos" or "less political content", and Meta says the ranking system, the algorithm that orders posts, responds right away and updates within the same session.
The feature uses large language models, software that reads everyday language and not only single keywords. Meta says these models can grasp "the interests, context, and intent behind natural language." People can also add or remove topics on the interest list the system has already made for them. Descriptions of the launch agree on that plain-language control, but they differ on whether Your Algorithm is entirely new to Facebook or an expansion of controls already using that name.
How to use the new prompt
On a post, open the three-dot menu and choose Your Algorithm, Interested, or Not interested. The Interested and Not interested buttons may also appear under the post itself. Meta says the app may then ask follow-up questions so you can say, in your own words, what you want more or less of, with recommendations updating in real time.
Those follow-up questions are still rolling out, so they will not show for every user yet. For most people, this is the simplest way to customize Facebook feed topics: one written request, then a change in what comes next. It is a Facebook algorithm control written as a sentence in the flow of the feed.
What older controls still do
Facebook already lets a user pick up to 30 Favorites, whose posts appear nearer the top, switch to a newest-first feed through the Feed Filter Bar, and tap Show more or Show less on a post or Reel. The plain-language prompt sits alongside those tools. It shortens the path for people who never open settings.
A wider use of AI chats is separate from this button. Since December 2025, Meta has used voice and text conversations with its AI assistant to personalize recommendations on Facebook and Instagram. A person who talks about hiking may then see outdoor groups, trail Reels, and ads for camping gear. Meta says it keeps religion, health, politics, and sexual orientation out of ad targeting.
Users cannot fully stop that use of chat data and still use Meta AI. The control on offer only changes how much the data personalizes the experience. Privacy advocates have raised concerns about the approach, and Meta's ad revenue reached $46 billion in a single quarter. Places with stricter privacy laws, including the European Union and the United Kingdom, will get a later rollout of this AI-powered ad personalization.
Reports say the Facebook prompt keeps a preference in place. On Threads, a February 2026 feature called Dear Algo let someone post a message starting with those words and reshape the feed for three days. Other people could repost that prompt and apply it to their own Threads feed.

Aasan alfaaz mein
Facebook par ab aap seedhe lafz mein likh kar bata sakte hain ke aap ko kya zyada ya kam dekhna hai. Cooking videos zyada chahiye hon ya political posts kam, feed usi session mein badal sakti hai. Yeh ads band karne ka button nahi hai. Meta AI se baat karoge to usi tarah ke posts aur ads aa sakte hain, aur aap sirf yeh choose kar sakte hain ke yeh asar kitna ho.
