China’s Ministry of National Defense said on 10 October that the Chinese and Pakistani armies will hold Karakoram-2026 joint training in the Korla area of Xinjiang in mid-to-late October.
Spokesperson Senior Colonel Chen Xi said the training will focus on joint counterterrorism operations in high-altitude areas. It will include practice with drones, searching for and firing on targets while moving, and long-range sniping, plus joint command and live-force exercises.
The ministry said this is the first joint army training between the two countries, and that it is meant to deepen cooperation against terrorism. Global Times carried the same announcement.
An earlier version of this article treated the exercise as an unverified social-media claim and said no date or place had been given. That was wrong. The ministry’s 10 October statement names both.
