The Federal Investigation Agency is investigating a digital gambling scandal that processed Rs119.93 billion through accounts linked to telecom-network mobile wallets, ProPakistani reported on Monday. The outlet said company insiders allegedly helped the operation bypass security checks. Its headline calls the case an Rs120 billion online gambling network.
What ProPakistani reported
ProPakistani said the FIA registered a first information report on 24 September 2026. Investigators suspect the network used fake companies, misleading websites and several financial accounts for transactions linked to offshore gambling platforms.
The report says corporate branchless-banking accounts were opened in 2024 and 2025 in the names of single-member companies presented as e-commerce and digital-marketing businesses. It says some company officials are suspected of helping the accused open accounts and avoid routine compliance checks.
ProPakistani said one person told investigators that an associate discussed payment arrangements with officials at the mobile-wallet provider, and that another accused person made dummy websites to test payment links to offshore gambling platforms. It said the arrangement was presented for a Chinese associate who acted as an agent for online gaming and gambling platforms, and that the group allegedly agreed to share profits. One suspect in custody, the report said, put his earnings at Rs400 million to Rs450 million in about a year, and the other party’s at Rs100 million to Rs150 million.
Five branchless-banking collection accounts allegedly processed about Rs8.586 billion through nearly 10.49 million transactions, ProPakistani reported. It said the FIR suspected that some funds moved through scrap dealers and mobile-phone shops, and that digital hawala channels and cryptocurrency were used to settle the transactions.
