Lahore Police have initiated a comprehensive security plan across the city’s mass transit networks to address harassment complaints and improve passenger safety. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations has issued directives to ensure that the dignity and protection of commuters remain the top priority for law enforcement.
As part of these measures, SP Dolphin Bilal Ahmed has been assigned the special task of managing security arrangements at all Metro Bus and Orange Line stations. The deployment aims to create a safer environment for the thousands of citizens who rely on these services daily for their commutes.
Security Audits and Monitoring
Following his appointment, SP Bilal Ahmed visited several high-traffic locations to conduct security audits. These inspections included major hubs such as Shahdara, Bhati Gate, MAO College, and Gaddafi Stadium. During these visits, the SP reviewed existing protocols and issued fresh instructions to staff on the ground to ensure special measures are in place at every station.
According to a spokesperson for the Dolphin Force, these audits are specifically designed to ensure the safety of women and children. Officers have been directed to maintain a high level of vigilance and closely monitor any suspicious activities in and around the station premises.
Strict Action Against Harassment
Lahore Police have emphasized that there will be zero tolerance for individuals who harass passengers. SP Bilal Ahmed stated that the police are taking concrete steps to protect citizens, including taking strict legal action against those found harassing women or children at the stations.
Dedicated meetings have been held with the security staff deployed at the stations to streamline communication and response times. The Dolphin Force, known for its rapid response capabilities, will play a central role in patrolling these areas to deter criminal activity and provide a sense of security to the public.
