A multi-party conference in Hyderabad on Sunday resolved to resist any decision to create new provinces or administrative units in Sindh, Dawn reported.

Who was there

The Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party organised the meeting. The PPP and PML-N attended, along with some nationalist parties. STP chairman Dr Qadir Magsi read out a joint declaration, titled Sindh munjhi Amman (Sindh my mother). Dawn named speakers including Sindh PPP president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Sindh PML-N president Bashir Memon.

What they resolved

Dawn said the conference unanimously resolved to resist a new province or administrative unit in Sindh either through a referendum or a provisional constitutional order. The meeting also condemned the emergency and governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Dawn did not report that any plan to divide Sindh had been tabled or approved. The story is the parties' decision to oppose that idea.
