The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency will hold a public complaint sitting on Wednesday so people can take cybercrime problems straight to its director general. Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi will hold the NCCIA e-kachehri at 11:30am on October 14, a spokesperson for the agency said on Tuesday. People can bring concerns about cyber fraud, online harassment and financial scams to that sitting.

What people can raise

An e-kachehri is a public complaint sitting in which citizens put their problems to a senior official. The spokesperson said Rizvi would listen himself to people dealing with cybercrime. He said the sitting was arranged so citizens could reach the agency’s senior management directly, so complaints could be addressed in good time, and so work to prevent cybercrime would be stronger.

The same briefing said the step was meant to make the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, known as NCCIA, easier for the public to approach. It is also meant to help people ask for assistance on online fraud, harassment and other cyber-related offences. The announcement fixes the time and names the officer who will hear complaints. It does not say how many people will be heard, or how someone should sign up in advance.

Orders after Monday's case review

Wednesday’s sitting follows a review Rizvi chaired on Monday. He met Director Operations Irfanullah Khan and Additional Director Islamabad Muhammad Shoaib Khan. An official said they examined operations already under way against cybercrime, how far investigations had gone, and legal action against suspects.

The official said the meeting also covered how investigation teams were performing, which cases were still pending, and how to tighten action against people involved in cybercrime. Rizvi told officers to improve the way operations are run, to keep investigations tied to evidence, and to pursue legal action so cases reach a proper end. He said staff should work with professionalism and a sense of responsibility, and that inquiries must be fair and lawful.

He asked officers to track the progress of cases closely, to avoid delays that are not needed, and to handle cybercrime complaints better. He pressed for quicker responses to public complaints and for investigation teams to coordinate more closely on problems citizens face. He said effective investigations, prompt action on complaints and better services for citizens remained central priorities for NCCIA. Those directions are the setting for Wednesday’s NCCIA e-kachehri.
